Latvian hotels and other accommodation establishments in the 4th quarter of 2010
In comparison with 2009, number of visitors in hotels and other accommodation establishments1 in 2010 comprised 1312 thsd persons which is an increase of 17.7%, according to Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). Number of visitors from Latvia has risen by 20.5%, but of foreign visitors – by 16.4%.
In its turn the number of visitors in hotels and other accommodation establishments in the 4th quarter of 2010 comprised 268.1 thsd or more by 24.2% compared to the 4th quarter of 2009. Of which 35% were residents of Latvia and 65% – foreign tourists. The number of foreign tourists has increased by 25.0%. The number of tourists from Russia has risen most significantly – by 74%.
In the last quarter of previous year the highest share of the foreign tourists stayed in Riga – 85%, in Jurmala – 6% and in Liepaja – 1%. The highest share of the Latvian residents stayed in Riga – 28%, Liepaja – 9% and Jurmala – 8%.
At the end of the 4th quarter 15.4 thsd rooms and 35.7 thsd beds were available in accommodation establishments.
