Latvian hotels and other accommodation establishments in the 3rd quarter of 2010
In comparison with the 3rd quarter of 2009, number of visitors in hotels and other accommodation establishments¹ in the 3rd quarter of 2010 increased by 29.5% and comprised 532.4 thsd people, according to Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). Of which 32% were residents of Latvia and 68% – foreign tourists. The number of foreign tourists has increased by 25.6%. The number of tourists from Russia has risen most significantly – by 79%.
The highest share of the foreign tourists stayed in Riga – 70%, in Jurmala – 9% and in Ventspils – 8%. The highest share of the Latvian residents stayed in Riga – 19%, Ventspils – 12%, Liepaja – 8% and Jurmala – 4%.
At the end of the 3rd quarter 15.7 thsd rooms and 35.4 thsd beds were available in accommodation establishments.

1 Every month CSB carries out survey on hotels and other accommodation establishments which compiles information on Latvian accommodation establishments, excluding State specialized sanatoriums and convalescent homes, which provide health care services for State. The survey includes hotels with at least 4 rooms and other collective accommodation establishments with at least 5 rooms.
