Latvian hotels and other accommodation establishments in 3rd quarter of 2007
In comparison with 3rd quarter of 2006, number of visitors in hotels and other collective accommodation establishments¹ in the 3rd quarter of this year increased by 9% and has reached 544.3 thsd people, according to Central Statistical Bureau. Of which 39% were residents of Latvia and 61% – foreign tourists. The highest share of the Latvia residents stayed in Riga – 25%, Ventspils – 11% and Riga district – 8%. Of all foreign tourists 66% stayed at hotels and other accommodation establishments in Riga. 13% of all foreign tourists stayed in collective accommodation establishments in Jurmala. The highest rate of visitors were from Germany – 16.9%, Lithuania – 11.0%, Finland – 8.6%, Estonia – 8.3%, Russia – 6.5%, Sweden – 6,2%, Great Britain – 5,7% and Norway – 5,7%.
In the 3rd quarter of 2007 were surveyed 400 active hotels and other collective accommodation establishments, of which 169 hotels. In Riga were surveyed 100 collective accommodation establishments, of which 73 hotels, in Jurmala – 33 collective accommodation establishment, of which 14 hotels.
At the end of 3rd quarter of 2007 11.7 thsd rooms and 26.6 thsd beds were available in accommodation establishments.
In Latvia hotel room occupancy rate at the end of the September² comprised 54% and bed occupancy rate – 42%, in Riga hotel room occupancy rate – 68% and bed occupancy rate – 53%.

¹ The Central statistical Bureau every month carries out survey on hotels and other collective accommodation establishments, in which is compiled information on Latvian collective accommodation establishments, excluding State specialized sanatoriums and convalescent homes, which provide health care services for State.
