Latvia hotels and other accommodation establishments in 2nd quarter of 2007
In comparison with 2nd quarter of 2006, number of visitors in hotels and other collective accommodation establishments¹ in the 2nd quarter of this year increased by 14% and has reached 395.3 thsd people, according to Central Statistical Bureau. Of which 43% were residents of Latvia and 57% – foreign tourists. The highest share of the Latvia residents stayed in Riga – 33%, Ventspils – 8% and Liepaja – 6%.
In the 2nd quarter of 2007 were surveyed 401 active hotels and other collective accommodation establishments, of which 163 hotels. In Riga were surveyed 101 collective accommodation establishments, of which 73 hotels, in Jurmala – 31 collective accommodation establishment, of which 11 hotels.
In Latvia hotel room occupancy rate at the end of the June² comprised 60% and bed occupancy rate – 50%, in Riga hotel room occupancy rate – 71% and bed occupancy rate – 60%.
At the end of 2nd quarter of 2007 11.6 thsd rooms and 26.3 thsd beds were available.
76% of the foreign touristsstayed athotels and other accommodation establishments in Riga. Of all foreign tourists, 10% stayed in collective accommodation establishments in Jurmala. The highest rate of visitors were from Germany – 14.0%, Finland – 10.3%, Estonia – 7.7%, Norway – 7.6%, Lithuania – 5.6%, United Kingdom – 7.4%, Sweden– 7.3%, Russia – 6.3%.

¹ The Central statistical Bureau every month carries out survey on hotels and other collective accommodation establishments, in which is compiled information on Latvia collective accommodation establishments, excluding State specialized sanatoriums and convalescent homes, which provide health care services for State.
