In June, retail trade turnover grew by 0.9 %

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to June 2015, total retail trade turnover in June 2016 rose by 0.9 %. Turnover of retail trade in food products increased by 0.7 %, whereas the turnover of retail trade in non-food products grew by 1.5 %.

Compared to June 2015, in June 2016 the most significant turnover growth in the non-food product group was recorded in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 15.4 %), in retail sale of pharmaceutical and medical goods (of 6.9 %), in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 6.0 %) and in retail sale of automotive fuel (of 5.0 %). In turn, a drop in turnover was recorded in retail sale of electrical household appliances (of 17.9 %), in retail sale in stalls and markets (of 9.9 %), in retail sale of information and communication equipment (of 4.0 %), as well as in retail sale of hardware, paints and glass (of 2.4 %).

Total retail trade turnover at current prices decreased by 0.3 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).

Compared to May 2016, the total retail trade turnover in June 2016 decreased by 0.8 % (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices). Turnover of retail trade in food products increased by 0.2 %, whereas the turnover of retail trade in non-food products dropped by 1.2 %.

Compared to May, a drop in turnover was recorded in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 5.1 %), in retail sale in stalls and markets (of 4.4 %) and in retail sale of automotive fuel (of 2.3 %).In turn, turnover growth was recorded in retail sale of furniture, textiles and other household articles (of 4.6 %), in retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (of 4.4 %), in retail sale of information and communication equipment (of 2.1 %) and in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 1.5 %).

Compared to May 2016, the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) rose by 0.3 % in June.
