In July, retail trade turnover grew by 1.3 %

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to July 2015, total retail trade turnover in July 2016 rose by 1.3 %. The turnover of retail trade in food products dropped by 3.9 %, whereas the turnover of retail trade in non-food products increased by 4.6 %.

Compared to July 2015, in July 2016 the most significant turnover growth in the non-food product group was recorded in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 15.5 %), in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 12.2 %), in retail sale of automotive fuel (of 11.5 %), in retail sale of hardware, paints and glass (of 4.2 %) and in retail sale of pharmaceutical and medical goods (of 1.8 %). In turn, a drop in turnover was recorded in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 8.3 %), in retail sale in stalls and markets (of 7.6 %), in retail sale of electrical household appliances (of 6.1 %), as well as in retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (of 1.7 %).

Total retail trade turnover at current prices decreased by 1.8 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).

Compared to June 2016, the total retail trade turnover in July 2016 grew by 0.4 % (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices). The turnover of retail trade in food products decreased by 2.5 %, whereas the turnover of retail trade in non-food products grew by 2.3 %.

Compared to June, turnover growth was recorded in retail sale of electrical household appliances (of 7.1 %), in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 5.6 %), in retail sale of information and communication equipment (of 5.3 %), in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 3.0 %) and in retail sale of automotive fuel (of 2.5 %). In turn, a drop in turnover was recorded in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 5.6 %), as well as in retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (of 4.4 %).

Compared to June 2016, the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) rose by 3.8 % in July.
