At the end of the 3rd quarter there were 9.6 thsd job vacancies in the country, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau. Compared to the end of the 2nd quarter the number has reduced by 3.1 thsd vacancies, but compared to the end of the 3rd quarter of previous year - by 11.2 thsd vacancies.
Number of job vacancies at the end of the quarter
Job vacancy rate has decreased from 2.0% at the end of September of previous year and 1.2% at the end of June of this year to 0.9% at the end of September.
In public sector job vacancy rate has reduced from 3.4% at the end of September of previous year to 1.8% at the end of September of this year, but in private sector – from 1.3% to 0.5%, respectively.

Compared to the end of the 2nd quarter the number of vacancies at the end of the 3rd quarter mostly decreased in the sector of public administration – by 0.7 thsd vacancies or by 25.8%, in transport, storage and communications sector – by 0.6 thsd vacancies or by 30.5%, and in trade – by 0.5 thsd vacancies or by 39.3%.
But, in comparison with the number of job vacancies at end of the 3rd quarter of previous year the most rapid decrease witnessed manufacturing – by 2.9 thsd vacancies or by 73.0%, public administration – by 2.5 thsd vacancies or by 54.7%, and transport, storage and communication sector – by 1.5 thsd vacancies or by 51.0%.
The highest number of job vacancies at the end of the 3rd quarter of this year was in public administration – 2.0 thsd, in transport, storage and communications sector – 1.5 thsd, and in manufacturing and commercial services – 1.1 thsd in each sector.
In the field of transport, storage and communication highest number of job vacancies was observed in land transport – 737 vacancies, as well as in post and courier activities – 553 vacancies. In manufacturing the highest number of job vacancies was recorded in manufacturing of food products and beverages – 430 vacancies, of which in processing and preserving of fish and fish products – 260 vacancies, as well as in building and repairing of ships and boats, in manufacture and repairing of railway and tramway rolling stock – 213 vacancies. Among the commercial services most of the job vacancies were in the field of security activities - 347 vacancies, architectural and engineering activities, technical testing an analysis - 254 vacancies, and real estate activities - 226 vacancies.

In accordance with the survey methodology job vacancy is defined as a post for which no contract has been signed and no candidate chosen and the employer is taking active steps to find a suitable candidate from outside the enterprise, and which will be filled immediately or within 3 months. The rate of job vacancies is calculated in per cent, by dividing the number of job vacancies by the total number of posts (occupied + vacant).
The public sector includes central and local government institutions and commercial companies with central or local government capital participation 50% and over, public organisations and commercial companies thereof.
