In January retail trade experienced annual increase of 3.2%

Data of Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to December 2013, total retail trade turnover in January 2014 reduced by 0.6%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Retail trade in food products has dropped by 1.7%, whereas of non-food products increased by 0.1%.

In comparison with December of last year, total retail trade turnover at current prices, not considering the seasonality, in January decreased by 19.1%. A year ago – in January 2013, compared to December 2012 – turnover reduced by 18.8%.

Compared to January 2013, total retail trade turnover in January 2014 rose by 3.2%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Rise in food commodity group comprised 2.9%. In non-food commodity group increase comprised 3.4%, of which in retail sale of automotive fuel – 6.7%. Most rapid turnover increase in January was observed in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet – 29.2%, in retail sale of second-hand goods – 14.8%, in retail sale of furniture, lighting equipment and other household articles – 8.4%.

In comparison with January of last year, total retail trade turnover at current prices rose by 3.5% (not taking into account the calendar influence).
