In January 2008 Internet was used by 86% of enterprises

Every year survey on the usage and e-commerce of information and communication technologies among enterprises with the number of employees 10 and more is carried out in all European Union. Majority of questions are on the situation in January 2008, but some indicators, for example, on cooperation with central and local government institutions and e-commerce are regarding 2007.

Results of the survey show that in January 2008 93% of enterprises used computer in their business activity, but 86% - used Internet.

The broadband connection ensures better speed of the data transmission and access to the Internet in the online mode. In January 2008 60% of enterprises used broadband connection, of which 87% of enterprises in the group of enterprises with the number of employees 250 and more.

In 2007 54% enterprises used the Internet to interact with central and local government institutions. That is more by 10 percentage points than in 2006.

One of the kinds of Internet use is buying and selling of goods and services online, i.e. electronic commerce (e-commerce). Over 2007 17% of enterprises have bought goods or services on the Internet. Only 7% of enterprises used the Internet to sell goods or services online.

In 2007 the rate of purchases online was 5.0% of the total volume of goods and services purchased, but the sales of goods and services on the Internet was 5.2% of the total turnover.
