Industrial production output in June 2008

04.08.2008

Compared to May 2008 industrial production output [1] at constant prices in June 2008 rose by 1.2%, according to seasonally adjusted data (seasonal and working day influence was taken into account) of the Central Statistical Bureau. Of which in manufacturing there was an increase of 0.2%, in electricity, gas and water supply - of 4.9%, but in mining and quarrying the volume decreased by 6.7%. The increase of industrial production output was mainly influenced by the production growth in manufacturing of basic metals - by 8.6%, in manufacture of non-metallic mineral products – by 4.9% and in manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork – by 4%.

Compared to June of previous year in June 2008 industrial production output has reduced by 6.4%, according to working day adjusted data. Of which in manufacturing – by 7.5%, in electricity, gas and water supply - by 1.8%, but in mining and quarrying there was an increase of 0.8%. The reduction of industrial production output was influenced by the volume decrease in: manufacturing of food products and beverages – by 10.9%, in manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork – by 7.9%, and in manufacturing of furniture; manufacturing not classified otherwise – by 37.4%.

More information on seasonally adjusted, working day adjusted and non-adjusted industrial production volume indices is available in the data base of CSB.

[1] Includes income from produced goods and sale of works (services) of industrial character excluding value added tax, final product stock and unfinished product stock changes at the end of the reference period in comparison with the beginning of the reference period, and value of equipment produced with the help of the enterprise labour force for own needs, as well as, capital repairs of the equipment.
[2] The influence of varying number of working days in the month and factors of seasonal repetition, i.e., seasonal fluctuations of goods produced in selected economic activities, has been eliminated.
