Industrial production output in January 2010

In January 2010 industrial production output1 (at current prices) comprised LVL 288.9 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Compared to December 2009 industrial production volume in January 2010 has reduced by 1.6%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which in manufacturing – by 3.9%, in mining and quarrying – by 0.1%, but in electricity and gas supply there was an increase of 8.7%.

Compared to January of previous year industrial production output in January 2010 has grown by 5.7%, according to working day adjusted data at constant prices. The growth was influenced by the production increase in electricity and gas supply of 25.1%, because with the beginning of the cold season the demand for the energy sector products rose. But reduction, in turn, was observed in mining and quarrying - 3.0%, and in manufacturing - 0.1%.

Most notable increase of industrial production output was recorded in manufacturing of wood and cork articles, except furniture – 42.8%, but reduction in manufacture of non-metallic mineral products – 27.2%.

Industrial production volume in accordance with the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities NACE 2.rev. includes Mining and quarrying, Manufacturing and Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, except steam and air conditioning supply.
