Industrial production growth in April - 2.1%

Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that, compared to March industrial production volume in April 2014 (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) rose by 2.1%.  Of which in manufacturing - by 2.3%, in mining and quarrying – by 5.6%, and in electricity and gas supply - by 0.9%.

Compared to April 2013, industrial production in April this year (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices) grew by 1.3%. Of which in mining and quarrying – by 28.5%, in manufacturing – by 5.6%, but in electricity and gas supply there was a decrease of 16.4%. The most notable growth in industrial production was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – of 63.2%, in manufacture of non-metallic mineral products – of 19.6%, and in manufacture of electrical equipment – of 16%. A significant production volume growth was also recorded in manufacturing sectors having the largest share in industrial production: in manufacture of wood and of products of wood – of 8%, in manufacture of food products – of 9.4%, and in manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – of 12.7%.
