Industrial production decreases by 0.7% in September

Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to August industrial production volume in September 2015 (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) decreased by 0.7%. Decline was caused by decrease of 6.4% in mining and quarrying, and of 2% in electricity and gas supply; in turn, manufacturing witnessed 0.2% growth.

Compared with September 2014industrial production in September this year (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices) grew by 2%; of which in manufacturing – by 1.3%, and in electricity and gas supply – by 6.9%, whereas in mining and quarrying there was a drop of 3.6%.

Compared with the 2nd quarter of 2015, industrial production output in the 3rd quarter of 2015 decreased by 1.3%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. In manufacturing there was a decrease of 2.1%, and mining and quarrying – of 5.1%; in turn, electricity and gas supply witnessed 5.6% growth.

Compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year, in the 3rd quarter of 2015 industrial production output grew by 3.8%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Production output in manufacturing grew by 3.7%, in mining and quarrying - by 4.3%, and in electricity and gas supply - by 4.5%.

During the first nine months of 2015, as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, production output according to calendar adjusted data increased by 3.6%; of which in mining and quarrying - by 8.5%, whereas in electricity and gas supply there was a decrease of 2.6%. In manufacturing, production volume during the first nine months of this year increased by 4.6%, of which in  manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products - by 43.1%, in manufacture of furniture - by 15.2%, in manufacture of wood and of products of wood - by 6.3%. In turn the greatest production drop was observed in manufacture of wearing apparel - of 17%, in manufacture of textiles - of 8.4%, in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products - of 8.3%, and in manufacture of food products - of 4.8%.
