Industrial output in November 2006

Compared to November of the previous year, industrial production output in November 2006 rose by 0.7% according to seasonally adjusted data of the Central Statistical Bureau. There was an increase of 1.9% in manufacturing and decreases of 5.1% in mining and quarrying and 3.0% in electricity, gas and water supply.

Compared with November of the previous year, production output of food products and beverages in November this year decreased by 2.2%. There were decreases in the following activities: 15.9% in the processing and preserving of fish and fish products, 9.1% in the manufacture of other food products (bread, confectionery, sugar), 2.7% in the processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables and 1.0% in the manufacture of grain mill products, starch and starch products. An increase, in turn, could be observed in the following sub-sectors: 11.0% in the manufacture, processing and preservation of meat and meat products, 4.2% in the manufacture of beverages and 3.0% in the manufacture of milk products.

Compared with November of the previous year, there were the following increases in production output in November 2006: 27.2% in the manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus; 24.0% in the manufacture of textiles; 21.7% in the manufacture of chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres; 18.7% in the manufacture of fabricated metal products except machinery, 7.9% in the manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products; 7.0% in the manufacture of electrical machinery and apparatus; 6.2% in the manufacture of machinery and equipment; 3.0% in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, 1.1% in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media and 0.2% in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (ceramics, cement, concrete and other products).

The decreases in production output were 8.8% in the manufacture of furniture; 8.7% in the manufacture of other transport equipment (repair of ships, boats, locomotives and rolling stock); 8.3% in the manufacture of wood and of articles of wood; 5.1% in the manufacture of wearing apparel and 1.4% in the manufacture of base metals; there were decreases also in some other sub-sectors.

Production output in November in comparison with October 2006 decreased by 1.8%. Of this, the decreases were 1.5% in manufacturing, 3.4% in electricity, gas and water supply but an increase of 2.3% was observed in mining and quarrying.
