According to the data of Central Statistical Bureau, compared to May of the previous year, industrial output according to seasonally adjusted data rose in May 2006 by 2.3%, including 26.9% in mining and quarrying, 4.8% in processing, and decreased by 6.2% in electricity, gas and water supply,
Compared to May of the previous year, there was an increase by 11.7% in manufacturing of food products and beverages. Increases could be observed in the following sub-sectors: 27.0% in manufacturing of beverages; 22.8% in manufacturing, processing and preserving of meat and meat products; 12.6% in manufacturing of milk products; 4.2% in processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables; 3.5% in manufacturing of other food products (bread, confectionery and sugar). Production amounts have decreased in: processing and preserving of fish and fish products by 19.4; manufacturing of prepared animal food by 2.9%; manufacturing of grain mill products and of starch and starch products by 2.4%;
In comparison with May of the previous year, the output in May 2006 increased in the following sectors by: 25.9% in manufacturing of chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres; 23.6% in manufacturing of textiles; 16.1% in manufacturing of furniture; 13.8% in manufacturing of basic metals; 12.1% in manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products (ceramics, cement, concrete and other products); 10.6% in manufacturing of pulp, paper and paper products; 6.3% in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media; 3.9% in manufacturing of rubber and plastic products n.e.c. The manufacturing of wood and articles of wood except furniture has remained at the level of previous year.
The decreases in industrial output were: 21.1% in manufacturing of machinery and equipment n.e.c.; 14.9% in manufacturing of other transport equipment (building and repairing of ships, boats, locomotives, and carriages); 14.6% in manufacturing of electrical machinery and equipment; 3.9% in manufacturing of wearing apparel; 0.8% in manufacturing of fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment.
Compared to April 2006, industrial output in May 2006 increased by 0.6%, including 13.3% in mining and quarrying, 1.2% in processing, whereas a decrease of 1.8% could be observed in electricity, gas and water supply.
