Gross domestic product in 2006 increased by 11.9%

Compared to the previous year, gross domestic product (GDP) in 2006 increased by 11.9%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.

The increase in GDP was due to the rises in the following sectors: 17.4% in trade (share in the GDP structure 20.9%), 17.6% in the sector of business services (14.8%), 9.3% in transport and communications (13.0%), 6.2% in manufacturing (11.9%) and 13.6% in construction (6.8%).

Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, GDP in the fourth quarter of 2006 rose by 11.7%. The increases were 15.3% in trade (of which 25.3% in retail trade), 17.4% in business services, 7.7% in transport and communications, 4.5% in manufacturing and 10.3% in construction.
