Gross domestic product in 1st half of 2007 increased by 11.1%

Compared to the corresponding period of previous year, gross domestic product (GDP) in 1st half of 2007 increased by 11.1%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.

Compared to the corresponding period of previous year, in the 2nd quarter of 2007 GDP increased by 11.0% .

The increase in GDP was due to the rises in the following sectors: trade (share in GDP structure –19.0%) – by 14.3%, in the sector of business services (16.3%) – by 9.3%, in transport and communications (13.3%) - by 9.4%, in construction (7.7%) – by 15.9%. However, in manufacturing, which composes 11.2% from GDP, the decrease by 2.4% is being observed.

Compared to the corresponding period of previous year, in the 2nd quarter of 2007 the volume of the total final consumption expenses increased by 16.2%. The increase in final consumption expenses was due to the final consumption expenses in the households and non-profit organizations attending them, which increased by 18.4%. Meanwhile, the final consumption expenses of the state administration institutions increased by 5.7%.

Export of goods and services increased by 8.7%. Meanwhile, the volume of import of goods and services increased by 23.0%.
