According to data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) in 2010 the average costs of forest regeneration constituted LVL 228 to 358 per ha, depending on the group of forest land quality. Average costs of forest regeneration per hectare are influenced by the soil preparation, small sapling expenses and planting costs. In 2010 the highest soil preparation and planting costs were recorded in the forest land of 4th quality group*.

Forest thinning costs in Latvia comprised on average LVL 119 to 192 per ha. Forest thinning costs include agro-technical thinning of forest and thinning of forest composition. The highest forest thinning costs in 2010 were recorded in forests of the 2nd quality* forest land.
Harvest costs include final felling, where part of the forest is felled completely, and intermediate felling (thinning, conversion cutting, sanitary cutting), where felling is made partly. Each of the felling includes wood preparation, transportation to road and transportation to purchase place. Total value of the harvest costs in final felling and intermediate felling are formed by the labour costs, transportation costs, incl. costs of the machinery used.
According to the data compiled by the CSB, in 2010 the average harvest costs per one cubic meter in final felling constituted LVL 11.71, but in intermediate felling – LVL 12.37. In comparison with 2009, the average harvest costs in final felling in 2010 have increased by 32%.

In comparison with 2008 and 2009, the average costs in intermediate felling in 2010 have dcreased by 18% and 19%, remaining at the level of 2007.

2nd forest land quality group includes pine forest, Callunosa mel., Callunosa turf.mel., Vaccinioso-sphagnosa, Myrtilloso-sphagnosa, Myrtilloso politrichosa, Caricoso-phragmitosa, fen, Filipendulosa.
3rd forest land quality group includes pine forest with spruce understorey, rich deciduous forest, Vacciniosa mel., Vacciniosa turf.mel.
4th forest land quality group includes Myrtilloso-sphagnosa, spruce forest, rich deciduous forest, Myrtillosa mel., Myrtillosa turf. Mel., Mercurialiosa met., Oxalidosa turf. mel.
Data on forestry costs are submitted by legal persons engaged in forestry and natural persons - forest owners.
