Foreign trade of Latvia in November 2006

The value of exports in November 2006 decreased by 2.3% or 6.9 mln lats compared to the previous month but compared to November 2005 it increased by 8.9% or 23.6 mln lats reaching 287.6 mln lats.

The value of imports in November 2006 was by 0.4% or 2.3 mln lats higher than a month ago but compared to November 2005 it was by 25.4% or 119.7 mln lats higher and reached 591.2 mln lats.

The total foreign trade turnover in January-November 2006 was by 23.5% or 1638.3 mln lats higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year and its value reached 8623.4 mln lats.

Latvia’s foreign trade, in millions of lats

Compared to January-November 2005, the highest increases in exports in January-November 2006 were 41.2% for the products of the chemical and allied industries, 33.6% for plastics and plastic products and 31.3% for base metals and articles of base metals. The decreases in exports, in turn, were 31.1% for mineral products, 13.2% for pulp of wood; paper and paperboard and 7.4% for optical instruments and apparatus, clocks and watches

Compared to January-November 2005, the steepest increases in imports in January-November 2006 were 62.9% for transport vehicles, 49.8% for miscellaneous manufactured articles (including furniture), 35.7% for the articles of stone, plaster, cement, glassware and ceramic products and 34.0 % for the base metals and articles of base metals.
