Foreign trade of Latvia in May 2010

In May 2010 the total foreign trade turnover at current prices reached 825.3 mln lats – more by 3.2% or 25.8 mln lats than a month before and more by 29.3% or 187.0 mln lats than in May 2009, according to provisional data of Central Statistical Bureau.
In January – May 2010 foreign trade turnover value reached 3723.3 mln lats – more by 12.0% or 400.4 mln lats than in the same period of last year. Of which exports value comprised 1682.3 mln lats – more by 22.0% or 303.8 mln lats, but imports value comprised 2041.0 mln lats – more by 5.0% or 96.6 mln lats than a year ago.

In May 2010 the most significant share (73.6%) in Latvia’s export had export to the countries of European Union, followed by the export to CIS countries – 14.4%. Main export partners were Lithuania (16.5% of total export), Estonia (13.3%), Russia (10.1%), Germany (8.5%) and Sweden (6.5%).

In May 2010 the most significant share in Latvia’s import had import from the countries of European Union (77.9%), followed by the import from CIS countries – 13.1%. Main import partners were Lithuania (17.7% of total import), Germany (12.2%), Poland (8.1%), Russia (7.8%) and Estonia (7.6%).
