Foreign trade of Latvia in March 2011

In March 2011 the total foreign trade turnover at current prices comprised LVL 1128.1 million – 21.9% or LVL 202.6 million more than a month before, and 38.8% or LVL 315.3 million more than in March 2010, according to provisional data of Central Statistical Bureau.

In January – March 2011 foreign trade turnover value reached LVL 2934.3 million – 38.3% or LVL 812.4 million more than in the same period of the last year. Of which export value comprised LVL 1330.1 million – a growth of 41.4% or LVL 389.4 million, but import value constituted LVL 1604.2 million – 35.8% or LVL 423.0 million more than a year ago.

In March 2011 the most significant share in Latvia’s export had export to the countries of European Union (73.4%), followed by the export to CIS countries – 14.3%. Main export partners were Lithuania (17.5% of total export), Estonia (15.3%), Russia (10.0%), Germany (8.4%) and Sweden (6.7%).

In March 2011 the most significant share in Latvia’s import had import from the countries of European Union (74.0%), followed by the import from CIS countries – 16.6%. Main import partners were Lithuania (17.0% of total import), Germany (11.6%), Russia (10.8%), Poland (7.6%) and Estonia (6.3%).
