Foreign trade of Latvia in July 2009

In July 2009 the total foreign trade turnover at current prices reached 613.3 mln lats – less by 3.8% or 24.5 mln lats than a month before and less by 41.1% or 427.6 mln lats than in July last year, according to provisional data of Central Statistical Bureau.

In January – July 2009 foreign trade turnover value reached 4517.6 mln lats – less by 36.1% or 2547.5 mln lats than in the same period of the last year. Of which exports value comprised 1891.6 mln lats – less by 27.2% or 705.4 mln lats, but imports value comprised 2626.0 mln lats – less by 41.2% or 1842.1 mln lats than a year ago.

In July 2009 the most significant share in Latvia’s export had export to the countries of European Union (74.3%), followed by the export to CIS countries – 14.6%. Main export partners were Lithuania (16.9% of total export), Estonia (14.7%), Germany (9.8%), Russia (9.7%) and Sweden (5.0%).

In July 2009 the most significant share in Latvia’s import had import from the countries of European Union (77.3%), followed by the import from CIS countries – 13.6%. Main import partners were Lithuania (17.1% of total import), Germany (12.3%), Poland (9.5%), Russia (7.8%) and Estonia (7.4%).
