In December 2009 the total foreign trade turnover at current prices reached 701.3 mln lats – less by 1.8% or 12.9 mln lats than a month before and less by 15.5% or 129.0 mln lats than in December last year, according to provisional data of Central Statistical Bureau.
In 2009 foreign trade turnover value reached 8,205.3 mln lats – less by 31.4% or 3,751.3 mln lats than in 2008. Of which exports value comprised 3,571.6 mln lats – less by 19.4% or 857.3 mln lats, but imports value comprised 4,633.7 mln lats – less by 38.4% or 2,894.0 mln lats than in 2008.

In December 2009 the most significant share (69.9%) in Latvia’s export had export to the countries of European Union, followed by the export to CIS countries – 14.2%. Main export partners were Lithuania (16.1% of total export), Estonia (14.6%), Russia (9.3%), Germany (6.7%) and Sweden (5.7%).
In December 2009 the most significant share in Latvia’s import had import from the countries of European Union (73.2%), followed by the import from CIS countries – 19.0%. Main import partners were Lithuania (18.6% of total import), Russia (13.4%), Germany (12.6%), Poland (7.8%) and Estonia (6.5%).
