Foreign trade of Latvia in August 2011

In August 2011 the total foreign trade turnover at current prices reached 1187.4 mln lats – 4.9% or 55.8 mln lats more than in the previous month and 23.0% or 222.2 mln lats more than in August 2010, according to provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau.

In January – August 2011 foreign trade turnover value reached 8610.1 mln lats – 33.1% or 2140.4 mln lats more than in the corresponding period of the previous year.Of which export volume comprised 3837.2 mln lats – an increase of 33.3% or 958.0 mln lats, whereas import volume constituted 4772.9 mln lats – 32.9% or 1182.4 mln lats more than a year ago.

In August 2011 the most significant share (70.3%) in Latvia’s export had export to the countries of the European Union, followed by export to the CIS countries – 15.3%.The main export partners were Lithuania (17.8% of total export), Estonia (14.2%), Russia (11.1%), Germany (7.7%) and Poland (5.6%).

In August 2011 the most significant share in Latvia’s import had import from the countries of the European Union (75.7%), followed by import from the CIS countries – 15.1%.The main import partners were Lithuania (20.1% of total import), Germany (11.9%), Poland (8.2%), Russia (7.7%) and Estonia (7.4%).
