Foreign trade of Latvia in August 2010

In August 2010 the total foreign trade turnover at current prices reached 936.6 mln lats – more by 7.1% or 61.8 mln lats than a month before and more by 41.3% or 273.6 mln lats than in August 2009, according to provisional data of Central Statistical Bureau.

In January – August 2010 foreign trade turnover value reached 6412.1 mln lats – more by 21.0% or 1113.6 mln lats than in the same period of last year. Of which exports value comprised 2865.2 mln lats – more by 28.3% or 631.5 mln lats, but imports value comprised 3546.9 mln lats – more by 15.7% or 482.1 mln lats than a year ago.

In August 2010 the most significant share (71.9%) in Latvia’s export had export to the countries of European Union, followed by the export to CIS countries – 16.7%. Main export partners were Lithuania (16.6% of total export), Russia (12.4%), Estonia (12.4%), Germany (8.5%) and Poland (6.2%).

In August 2010 the most significant share in Latvia’s import had import from the countries of European Union (72.0%), followed by the import from CIS countries – 16.4%. Main import partners were Lithuania (17.7% of total import), Germany (11.1%), Russia (10.6%), Poland (7.3%) and Estonia (6.8%).
