During the first nine months of 2015 volume of transported freights remains at the level of the previous year

According to the information on freight transport compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau, during the first nine months of 2015 as compared with the first nine months of 2014 the total volume of freights carried in main transport sectors has remained at the level of the previous year; 93.5 mln tons of freight have been carried, of which 50.4% - by road, 45.5% - by rail, and 4.1% - by oil products pipeline.

During the first nine months of 2015, freight transport by rail remained at the level of the previous year, carrying 42.6 mln tons of the freight, which is a decrease of 0.2% compared with first nine months of the previous year.

National freights by rail accounted for 1.1 mln tons – 31.7% more than in the corresponding period of 2014. In international traffic the volume of freights carried by rail decreased by 0.8%.

During the first nine months of 2015, 47.1 mln tons of freight were carried by road, which is 1.3% more than in the first nine months of 2014. National freights decreased by 2.9%; in turn, international freights grew by 19.9%.

Metal ores and other mining and quarrying products and peat accounted for 31.9% of the total number of freights carried by road, products of agriculture, hunting and forestry, fish and other fishing products amounted to 19.4%, and wood and products of wood (except furniture), paper and paper products - 13.1%.

During the first nine months of 2015, 3.8 mln tons of oil products were transported by the oil products pipeline, which is a decrease of 17.8% as compared to the first nine months of 2014.
