Domestic trade in June 2006

The data of Central Statistical Bureau show that in June of this year, in comparison with the preceding month, the turnover of retail trade enterprises(calculated in comparable prices) has increased by 3.1%, but, compared to June 2005, it has increased by 20.9%.

In January-June of 2006, in comparison with January-June 2005, the turnover of retail trade enterprises has increased by 17.3%.

Compared to May 2006, retail trade turnover of enterprises, the main activity of which is the sale of motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts and accessories thereof increased in June 2006 by 3.3%, but compared to June of the previous year, it has increased by 86.4%, of which the increase in the sales turnover of motor vehicles was more than double – 113.4%.

In January-June 2006, compared to January-June 2005, sales turnover of motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts and accessories thereof increased by 73.0%.

Tthe turnover of automotive fuel retail sale enterprises in June of this year, in comparison with June 2005, decreased by 10.3% in comparable prices. In January-June 2006, compared to the corresponding period of 2005, the retail trade turnover of enterprises selling automotive fuel increased by 24.7%.

The turnover of catering enterprises in June 2006, in comparison with May 2006 (in comparable prices), has reduced by 8.0%, but in January-June 2006, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2005, the turnover of catering enterprises has increased by 10.5%. Such decrease is due to World Ice Hockey Championship that took place in Riga in May, when rise of turnover was observed for enterprises active in provision of catering services.
