Domestic trade in January 2007

Compared to December 2006 in January 2007 the retail trade turnover has increased by 25.2%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau, but leaving out of consideration the effect of season shopping, very characteristic to December celebrations, the retail turnover increased by 1.2%. (Similar tendency can be observed in all commodity groups, except textile articles, clothing, retail of footwear and leather ware, what can be explained with shop discount campaigns that usually are organized in January).

But in comparison with January 2006 retail turnover in first month of this year increased by 30.5%.

Compared to December, retail trade turnover (at constant prices) of enterprises the main activity of which is the sale of motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts thereof in comparison with December in January 2007 decreased by 16.8% but compared to January of last year, it has increased by 58.2%, of which the increase in the sale of motor vehicles was 114.2%.

Compared to December of previous year, the turnover of automotive fuel retail trade in enterprises in January of this year decreased by 10.9%. Compared to January 2006 it rose by 1.5%.

Compared to December 2006, the turnover of catering enterprises in January 2007 decreased by 15.8% but compared to the corresponding period of 2006 it has increased by 4.2%.
