Consumer price level in June 2007

Compared to May 2007, the average consumer price level in June 2007 rose by 0.9%. Prices for goods increased by 0.9% and prices for services increased by 0.7%.

The rise in the prices of food, tobacco, beer and payments for parking, as well as the price decrease for footwear had the greatest impact on consumer price changes in June.

Price increase for fruit, vegetables and potatoes had the highest impact for the rise in the prices of food products. Prices of meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, bread, fish and non-alcoholic beverages went up as well. Price of tobacco products continued to rise.

The parking fee increased noticeably. Spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment and driving courses became more expensive. The prices of automotive fuel increased by 0.9%.

There was price increase also for several services related to housing: water supply, sewerage, waste disposal, and heating energy. The prices of recreational and cultural services, package holidays and catering services increased.

Under the impact of seasonal sales, prices for footwear have decreased in June. There were decrease of prices for mobile telecommunications, data processing, TV, audio, video and photo equipment and telephones. Due to special offers, the prices for selected food products also decreased.

In comparison with June of the previous year, there was an increase of consumer prices by 8.8%, including for goods – by 7.5% and for services – by 12.4%.

During the first 6 months of 2007, there was an increase of consumer prices by 5.7%.
