Consumer price level in April 2007

Compared to March 2007, the average consumer price level in April 2007 rose by 0.9%. Prices both for goods, and services increased by 0.9%.

The rise in the prices of vegetables, automotive fuel, catering services, as well as of water supply and other services connected with housing had the greatest impact on consumer price changes in April.

The prices of vegetables in average increased by 12.3%, but of fruit - by 3,6%.

There were increase in prices of bread, cereal products, fish and fish products, as well as milk and milk products.

In April the prices of automotive fuel continued to rise (+3.7%). The prices increased for car maintenance and repair and drivers courses.

The water supply cost increased by 1.2%, and cost of the sewerage services - by 1.4%. Also the cost of the dwelling maintenance and repair increased.

Prices in the catering services increased by 2.3%, especially in the cafés and restaurants.

There were also price increase for the household services, recreational and sports services, cultural services, package holidays, insurance services and personal care institution services, especially services of the hairdressers.

The prices of the telecommunication services decreased by 2.9%, mainly for the calls with prepaid cards. Also there were decreases in prices for telecommunication and data processing equipment. Due to sales campaigns household appliances, TV, audio, video and photographic equipment became cheaper.

Compared with April of the previous year, consumer prices increased by 8.9%, (7.5% for goods and 12.7% for services).
