On consumer price changes in November 2012

Compared to October 2012 the average consumer price level in November 2012 decreased by 0.1%. During the month the average price level of goods did not change, while the average prices of services decreased by 0.3%. As compared to October 2011 the average level of consumer prices in November 2011 did not change.

The greatest downward pressures on the price changes in November were put by price drop for transport, communications, recreational and culture goods and services, as well as for clothing and footwear, while price growth in food, non-alcoholic and alcoholics beverages had the most significant upward impact on the consumer prices.

The price drop in the transport group was mostly influenced by the decrease in prices of fuel on average by 3.7%, of which for petrol by 5.3%, for diesel - by 1.2% and for liquid petroleum gas – by 1.7%.

The decrease in the average price level of telecommunication services was affected by drop in the prices of mobile telecommunication services of 2.1% and internet connection services of 1.4%.

The price drop for recreation and culture goods and services was determined by decrease in prices for tourism services (-3.1%).Due to discounts prices of TV, audio, visual and computer equipment also decreased.

Prices of footwear decreased by 0.8%, whereas prices of clothing increased on average by 0.3%.

Price growth for meat and meat products (+1.7%), for bread and cereal products (+2.2%), for juices and soft drinks (+1.8%), for fish and fish products (+1.0%) and for eggs (+3.0%) had the greatest upward impact within the food group. 

In its turn, drop was recorded for prices of vegetables and potatoes (-1.8%) and for prices of tea and coffee (-1.5%).

With the end of the special offers, prices of alcoholic beverages increased by 2.3%, of which spirits - by 0.7%, wine – by 0.5% and beer – by 4.5%.

Compared to November of previous year, consumer prices have increased by 1.6%. The average price level for goods increased by 1.9%, but for services – by 0.8%.

The annual average rate of change in November 2012 was 2.5%.
