Construction in Latvia in 2nd quarter of 2010

In the 2nd quarter of 2010 construction volume (at current prices) comprised LVL 174.0 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2010, construction in 2nd quarter of 2010 has reduced by 19.5%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings decreased by 26.7% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed grew by 7.7%.

Compared to the corresponding quarter of previous year, construction in the 2nd quarter of 2010 has diminished by 35.3%, according to working day adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings reduced by 36.7% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 34.5%.

The most notable reduction of construction and repairs, if compared to the corresponding period of previous year, was observed in construction of main pipelines, communication and power lines and in construction of local pipelines and cable lines – by 91.1% and 83.6%, respectively. But construction volumes have grown only in construction of schools and kindergartens - by 14.2%.

Compared to the 1st half of 2009, construction volumes in the 1st half of 2010 (calculating at constant prices) have reduced by 38.3%. Of which construction of buildings diminished by 37.1% and construction of civil engineering structures – by 39.3%.
