Construction in Latvia in 1st quarter of 2010
In the 1st quarter of 2010 construction volume (at current prices) comprised LVL 107.1 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.
Compared to the 4th quarter of 2009, construction volume in Latvia in the 1st quarter of 2010 reduced by 1.0%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices.
Compared to the corresponding quarter of previous year, construction in Latvia in the 1st quarter of 2010 decreased by 43.4% (working day adjusted data at constant prices). Of which volume of buildings constructed reduced by 42.5%, but volume of civil engineering structures - by 43.9%.
Most notable reduction of construction and repairs was recorded in construction of main pipelines, communication and power lines – 75.3%, residential buildings – 74.5%, local pipelines and cable lines – 61.8%. But compared to a corresponding period a year before, construction volume has increased only in construction of bridges and tunnels – by 37.3%.
