On construction and building permits granted in 3rd quarter of 2011

The active acquisition of the resources of the EU funds and the low production volume basis in 2010 promoted positive construction results in the first nine months of 2011 -  construction volume (at current prices) comprised 568.1 mln LVL, of which in the 3rd quarter – 301.8 mln LVL, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau.

In comparison to the first nine months of 2010, construction volume in the first nine months of 2011 at constant prices has increased by 6.1%, of which construction of buildings - by 8.9% and civil engineering structures – by 4.0%.

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2011, construction volume in the 3rd quarter of 2011 has increased by 15.1%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings - by 13.4% and construction of civil engineering structures – by 15.5%.

Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2010, construction volume in the 3rd quarter of 2011 has increased by 19.6%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings - by 25.3% and construction of civil engineering structures – by 16.0%.

In comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year, the most notable increase in construction works and repairs was recorded in the construction of local pipe line and cable lines, and production buildings and warehouses – by 144.3% and 106.9% respectively. In its turn, construction decline of 39.6% was recorded in construction of bridges and tunnels.

In the 3rd quarter of 2011 construction management authorities have granted 627 building permits for construction, capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of single dwelling buildings with the total floor space of 155.9  thousand m2 (in the 3rd quarter of 2010 – 548 and 113.4 thousand m2, respectively). 109 building permits were granted for construction of production buildings and warehouses with the total floor space of 199.7 thousand m2 (in the 3rd quarter of 2010 - 80 permits and 156.3 thousand m2, respectively).

383 building permits were granted for construction of new single dwelling buildings with the total floor space of 83.1 thousand m2 and 51 building permits - for construction of new production buildings and warehouses with the total floor space of 94.7 thousand m2.
