On construction and building permits granted in 3rd quarter of 2010

In January – September 2010 construction volume (at current prices) comprised LVL 528.6 mln, of which in the 3rd quarter – LVL 247.5 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Compared to January – September 2009, construction volume at constant prices in nine months of 2010 have reduced by 28.5%. Of which construction of buildings has decreased by 30.3% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 27.1%.

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2009, construction volume in the 3rd quarter of 2010 increased by 15.1%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings by 15.9% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed - by 9.7%.

Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2009, construction volume in the 3rd quarter of 2010 has decreased by 13.1%, according to working day adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings reduced by 13.2% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 13.1%.

If compared to the corresponding period of previous year, the most notable reduction of construction and repairs in 3rd quarter of this year was observed in construction of office buildings and in construction of local pipelines and cable lines – by 68.9% and 66.3%, respectively. But growth of construction volume, in turn, was recorded in construction of wholesale and retail trade buildings and in construction of industrial buildings and warehouses – by 92.0% and 33.1%, respectively.

In the 3rd quarter of 2010 construction management authorities granted 541 building permit for the construction, capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of single dwelling buildings with total floor space 112.5 thsd m2 (in 3rd quarter of 2009 – 584 and 118.3 thsd m2, respectively). 76 building permits were granted for the construction of production buildings and warehouses with total floor space 153.0 thsd m2 (in 3rd quarter of 2009 - 45 permits and 67.2 thsd m2, respectively).

361 building permit was granted for the construction of new single dwelling buildings with total floor space 78.8 thsd m2 and 50 permits were issued for the construction of new industrial buildings and warehouses with total floor space 119.3 thsd m2.
