On construction and building permits granted in 2nd quarter of 2011

In the 1st half of 2011 construction volume (at current prices) comprised LVL 266.3 million, of which in the 2nd quarter – LVL 174.8 million, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

In comparison with the 1st half of 2010, construction volume in the 1st half of 2011 at constant prices has reduced by 6.2%. Of which construction of buildings has decreased by 3.4% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 8.5%.

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2011, construction volume in the 2nd quarter of 2011 has increased by 9.0%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings - by 12.9% and volume of civil engineering structures constructed – by 3.7%.

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2010, construction volume in the 2nd quarter of 2011 has reduced by 0.9%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Of which volume of civil engineering structures has decreased by 7.8%, but volume of buildings constructed has risen by 9.9%.

In comparison with the 2nd quarter of 2010, the most notable reduction of constriction works and repairs in the 2nd quarter of 2011 was recorded in the construction of main pipelines, communication and power lines and construction of office buildings – 64.5% and 50.3%, respectively. But construction volume rise, in turn, was observed in construction of production buildings and warehouses and in construction of hospital or institutional care buildings – 104.9% and 33.0%, respectively.

In 2nd quarter of 2011 construction management authorities have granted 548 building permits for the construction, capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of single dwelling buildings with total floor space 119.2  thousand m2 (in 2nd quarter of 2010 – 592 and 133.6 thousand m2, respectively). 91 building permit was granted for the construction of production buildings and warehouses with total floor space 189.3 thousand m2 (in 2nd quarter of 2010 - 70 permits and 137.8 thousand m2, respectively).

350 building permits were granted for construction of new single dwelling buildings with total floor space 77.1 thousand m2 and 53 building permits - for constriction of new production buildings and warehouses with total floor space 110.3 thousand m2.
