On construction and building permits granted in 2011
In 2011 construction volume (at current prices) comprised LVL 868.7 million, of which in the 4th quarter – LVL 300.6 million, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

In comparison with 2010, construction volume at constant prices in 2011 has grown by 12.3%, of which construction of buildings by 14.7%, and construction of civil engineering works – by 10.6%.
Compared to 3rd quarter of 2011, construction volume in 4th quarter of 2011 has increased by 4.0%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings - by 2.6% and the volume of civil engineering works constructed – by 4.6%.
Compared to 4th quarter of 2010, construction volume in 4th quarter of 2011 has risen by 25.9%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Of which construction of buildings - by 28.0% and construction of civil engineering works – by 24.4%.
The most notable increase in construction and repairs, if compared to the corresponding period of previous year, was recorded in construction of streets and roads, as well as in construction of industrial buildings and warehouses – of 72.7% and 66.2%, respectively. While construction volume reduction was observed in the construction of main pipelines, communication and electricity lines, as well as in construction of bridges and tunnels – of 37.3% and 22.2%, respectively.

Construction management authorities in 2011 have granted 1849 building permits for the construction, capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of single dwelling buildings with total floor space 423.8 thousand m2 (in 2010 – 1731 and 379.8 thousand m2, respectively). 439 building permits were granted for the construction of industrial buildings and warehouses with total floor space 834.8 thousand m2 (in 2010 - 296 permits and 536.8 thousand m2, respectively).
In the 4th quarter of 2011 396 building permits were granted for the construction of single dwelling buildings with total floor space 84.9 thousand m2 (in 4th quarter of 2010 – 332 and 77.2 thousand m2, respectively). 132 building permits were granted for the construction of industrial buildings and warehouses with total floor space 199.5 thousand m2 (in 4th quarter of 2010 - 106 permits and 153.4 thousand m2, respectively).
In 2011 1155 building permits were granted for the construction of new single dwelling buildings with total floor space 258.0 thousand m2 (in 4th quarter of 2011 – 262 and 58.9 thousand m2, respectively) and 262 permits were issued for the construction of new industrial buildings and warehouses with total floor space 537.0 thousand m2 (in 4th quarter of 2011 – 87 and 147.4 thousand m2, respectively).
