On changes of indices of foreign trade unit value

Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2005, the unit value of exported goods in the 3rd quarter of 2006 increased on average by 10.8% and the unit value of imported goods rose by 8.9%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau. Compared to the previous quarter, UV increases were 3.9% for exported goods and 2.5% for imported goods.

Compared to the 2nd quarter, the average level of export unit value in the 3rd quarter of 2006 was raised by the UV increase of 0.8 percentage points for base metals and articles of base metals, 0.7 percentage points for wood and articles of wood and 0.3 percentage points for each of the following groups: mineral products, products of the chemical and allied industries and miscellaneous manufactured articles.

Compared to the previous quarter, the average level of import unit value in the 3rd quarter this year was raised mostly by UV increases for transport vehicles and equipment as well as for base metals and articles of base metals (by 0.7 and 0.5 percentage points, respectively). The level of UV for imported goods was raised by the UV increases of 0.3 percentage points for textiles and textile articles and machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment and 0.2 percentage points for food products and mineral products.

Over the same period the greatest lowering effect (by 0.2 percentage points) was due to a fall in the UV of vegetable products.
