On changes of foreign trade unit value in 2012
In 2012, compared to 2011, the average level of export unit value (UV) grew by 3.7 % and the average level of import unit value rose by 7.9 %, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
Compared to the 4th quarter of 2011, the unit value in the 4th quarter of 2012 increased by 5.5 % for exported goods and by 7.5 % for imported goods. In its turn, compared to the previous quarter, unit value of exported goods increased by 1.4 %, while the UV of imported goods rose by 0.1 %.

Compared to the previous quarter, the average level of export unit value in the 4th quarter of 2012 was mostly influenced by the UV growth for prepared foodstuffs, live animals and animal products, as well as for wood and articles of wood.
The increase in the UV of prepared foodstuffs, of products of the chemical and allied industries as well as of live animals and animal products had the greatest impact on the average level of import unit value in the 4th quarter of 2012, as compared to the 3rd quarter.
