Building permits granted in the first half of 2009

During the 2nd quarter of 2009 construction management authorities granted 654 building permits for the construction of single dwelling buildings with total floor space 130.8 thsd m2, and it is 36% less than in the 2nd quarter of 2008, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Out of the total number of building permits granted for the construction of single dwelling buildings 61% was granted for the new construction ( in the 2nd quarter of 2008 - 72% of the total number of building permits granted).

The number of building permits granted for the construction of summerhouses and weekend houses has decreased. During the 2nd quarter of 2009 135 building permits were granted, and it is 50% less if compared to the corresponding period of 2008.

In the 2nd quarter of 2009 27 building permits were granted for the construction of two or more dwelling buildings with total area of 77.8 thsd m2, of which 15 building permit were issued for new construction of two or more dwelling buildings with total area of 61.6 thsd m2. 8 building permits were granted for the construction of new hotels and other similar short-term accommodation buildings with a total area of 3.5 thsd m2, 4 building permits for the construction of new office buildings, 10 building permits for new wholesale and retail trade buildings, 6 for new traffic and communications buildings, 28 for new industrial production buildings and warehouses, and 12 for new mass-entertainment, educational or healthcare buildings.

19 building permits were issued for the construction of new highways, streets and roads, 17 permits for the construction of new main pipelines, communications and power transmission lines with a total length of 34 km, 110 for the construction of new local pipelines and cables with a total length of 71 km.

In comparison with the 1st quarter of this year more building permits were granted for the new construction, as well as for the capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration. Number of building permits granted for the construction of single dwelling buildings has increased by 187 permits, and the number of permits issued for the construction of two or more dwelling buildings grew by 8 permits.

Compared to the first half of 2008 number of building permits granted for the construction of new buildings and civil engineering structures, as well as for the capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of these objects in the 1st half of 2009 has reduced.

Number of building permits issued for the construction of new single dwelling buildings reduced by 40%, and number of permits granted for the construction of new two or more dwelling buildings - by 50%.
