In August, retail trade turnover grew by 1.1 %

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to August 2015, total retail trade turnover in August 2016 rose by 1.1 %. Turnover of retail trade in food products decreased by 2.3 %, whereas the turnover of retail trade in non-food products increased by 2.8 %.

Compared to August 2015, in August 2016 the most significant turnover growth in the non-food product group was recorded in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 23.7 %), in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 21.1 %), in retail sale of pharmaceutical and medical goods (of 9.0 %), in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 7.9 %) and in retail sale in stalls and markets (of 7.2 %). In turn, a drop in turnover was recorded in retail sale of electrical household appliances (of 4.9 %), in retail sale of information and communication equipment (of 3.0 %), in retail sale of hardware, paints and glass (of 2.5 %), as well as in retail sale of automotive fuel (of 6.0 %).

Total retail trade turnover at current prices remained unchanged (not taking into account the calendar influence).

Compared to July 2016, total retail trade turnover in August 2016 grew by 0.2 % (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices). Turnover of retail trade in food products increased by 0.5 %, whereas the turnover of retail trade in non-food products dropped by 0.9 %.

Compared to July, turnover growth was recorded in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 12.6 %), in retail sale of electrical household appliances (of 4.6 %), in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 3.3 %), in retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (of 3.0 %) and in retail sale of pharmaceutical and medical goods (of 2.8 %). In turn, a drop in turnover was recorded in retail sale of automotive fuel (of 4.5 %), in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 1.8 %), as well as in retail sale of hardware, paints and glass (of 1.1 %).

Compared to July 2016, the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) rose by 0.8 % in August.
