In April retail trade experienced annual increase of 10.5%

Data of Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to March, the total retail trade turnover in April 2014 rose by 2.5%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Retail trade in food products grew by 1.2%, whereas of non-food products - by 3.5%.

Compared to March, the total retail trade turnover at current prices, not taking into account seasonality, in April rose by 4.0%. A year ago, in April 2013 as compared to March 2013 - turnover dropped by 1.5%.

Compared to April 2013, the total retail trade turnover in April 2014 rose by 10.5%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Rise in food commodity group comprised 9.7%. In non-food commodity group increase comprised 11.0%. The most rapid turnover increase in April was observed in retail sale of automotive fuel – of 24.3%, in retail sale of hardware, paints and glass - of 21.4%, as well as in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods - of 16.8%.

In comparison with April of the previous year, total retail trade turnover at current prices rose by 9.7% (not taking into account the calendar influence). The large increase in breakdown by year was affected by favourable weather conditions in April 2014, which compared to late spring in 2013, hastened beginning of trade with goods of the season.

In first four months, as compared to first four months of the previous year, retail trade turnover in total has grown by 4.4%, according to calendar adjusted data. Rise in food commodity group comprised 4.8%, but retail trade in non-food products has grown by 4.1%.
