In April 2018 the foreign trade turnover of Latvia amounted to EUR 2.13 billion, which at current prices was 13 % more than in April 2017, of which the exports value of goods was 15.3 % and imports value of goods was 11 % higher.

During the year in May 2018, compared to May 2017, the average level of consumer prices rose by 2.3 %. Prices of goods grew by 1.9 % and prices of services by 3.2 %.

In 2017, the number of same-day trips of Latvian residents grew, but the number of overnight trips reduced. In total Latvian residents spent EUR 930.9 million on all trips around Latvia and abroad, which is EUR 141.4 million or 17,9 % more than a year ago.

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2017, during the 1st quarter of 2018 the volume of freights carried by land and pipelines decreased by 2.3 million tonnes or 7.7 % and freight turnover1 – by 10.4 %.

Compared to April 2017, in April 2018 industrial production output increased by 0.9 %. Production output in manufacturing went up by 2.2 %, while in mining and quarrying as well as in electricity and gas supply it fell by 9.2 % and 0.7 %, respectively.

In the 1st quarter of 2018 the average monthly gross wages and salaries for full-time work in Latvia comprised EUR 961, growing by 8.6 % or EUR 76 over the year.

In the 1st quarter of 2018, compared to the 1st quarter of 2017, the gross domestic product (seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data) increased by 4.2 %. In the 1st quarter GDP at constant prices was EUR 6.32 billion.
