In 2016 in Latvia there were 893.3 thousand employed persons or 61.6 % of the population aged 15–74.
Compared to December 2016, the average level of producer prices in Latvian industry grew by 0.7 % in January 2017. The prices of products sold on the domestic market increased by 0.5 %, whereas the prices of exported products rose by 0.9 %. The prices of products exported to euro area countries grew by 0.7 % and of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 1.0 %.
95.3 thousand persons aged 15–74 were unemployment in 2016. Compared to 2015, the number of unemployed persons has declined by 2.9 thousand or 3.0 %. In 2016, Latvian unemployment rate constituted 9.6 %; it was 0.3 percentage points lower than in 2015.

716.0 thousand hectares of land were covered with cereals in 2016 – 43.6 thousand hectares or 6.5 % more than in 2015, leading to the largest cereal cropland area observed since 1984.
In 2016, 2.3 million visitors were hosted at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments, which was 7.7 % more than the year before. The respective indicator has increased by 75 % from the 1.3 million hosted in 2010. As compared to 2015, the number of nights spent by visitors has increased by 7.5 %. The average duration of a visitor's stay at an accommodation establishment was 1.9 nights.
Compared to 2015, in 2016 construction output declined by 17.8 %, according to calendar adjusted data. Construction output at current prices amounted to 1425.9 million euros.

During the year* (in January 2017, compared to January 2016) the average level of consumer prices increased by 2.9 %. Prices of goods grew by 2.8 % and prices of services by 3.1 %.
In December 2016 Latvian foreign trade turnover at current prices was 9.7 % higher than in December 2015, and the exports and imports values of goods were 7.6 % and 11.4 % higher, respectively. In December, Latvia exported goods in the amount of EUR 884.5 mln, and imported goods in the amount of EUR 1.1 bln.
