Compared to the 4th quarter of 2016, in the 4th quarter of 2017 hourly labour costs rose by 54 cents or 7.3 %, reaching EUR 8.02. Seasonally adjusted data show identical changes – rise of 7.3 %.


In 2017 the share of households admitting that pay for usual necessary expenses with difficulty or great difficulty constituted 43.6 %, which is 1.5 percentage points more than in 2016.


in January 2018 the foreign trade turnover of Latvia amounted to EUR 2.05 bln, which at current prices was 12.4 % more than in January 2017, of which the exports value of goods was 18.1 % and imports value of goods was 7.9 % higher.

Compared to January 2017, in January 2018 industrial production output1 increased by 4.2 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices).


In 2017 housing costs constituted EUR 138 monthly. Over the last two years, housing costs almost have not changed. Last year, households spent on average 13.5 % of their disposable income on housing.

In 2017 the average gross wages and salaries for full-time work in Latvia comprised 926 euros. Compared to 2016, the average wages and salaries rose by 67 euros or 7.9 %, moreover in all economic activities.
