On average purchase prices of round timber in 2008

The information of the Central Statistical Bureau on the purchase prices of significant export commodity - round timber, show that, in 2008 decrease continued. Totally in 2008 Latvia exports comprised LVL 4392029 thsd, of which exports of round timber constituted LVL 124313 thsd or 2.83%.

To compare purchase prices of round timber in 2008 and in 2008 it should be noted that, purchase prices of pine sawlogs on average reduced by 8-16%, of spruce sawlogs - by 19-29%, of deciduous sawlogs – on average by 15%. The reduction of birch veneer log purchase prices constituted 11%, prices of matchlogs decreased by 6%, and of packing case timber - by -16%. The only price growth was recorded in purchase prices of black alder veneer logs – 17-40%.
